October 14, World Food Day Celebration

We met the Fall at our new location – the Congregation B’Nai Israel kitchens, 253 Prospect Street. We honored World Food Day with an inspiring collective baking (you can see photos and a Gazette article about it here) A very special THANK YOU goes to Jonathan Stevens of Hungry Ghost Bread and Eli Rogosa of Heritage Grain Conservancy who shared their knowledge of and passion for the importance of knowing where our bread comes from and taught us animated lessons on collaboration!

May 1, 2013 kneading & a June Visit to Soldier On
We were very fortunate and thankful to have here with us the founder of the Bread Houses Network and the International Council for Cultural Centers (I3C), Dr. Nadezhda Savova! She joined us in an inspiring visit with women veterans at Soldier On. We were hosted by the delightful Virginia Lieblein (the coordinator for the women’s program) and the multi-talented and super-brave women with whom we did bread puppets and a theater of crumbs around the topic of home. Thank you!

Our April 22, 2013 kneading
We made sun/sunflower-shaped (Recipe 1) and lemon-poppy seed-lemon curd bread

Our very first kneading was on March 26, 2013!

(A huge THANKS to Nadezhda Sotirova, PhD Candidate, Dept. of Communication, UMass for the wonderful photos!)
