The textbook for this class is “Pathways to Astronomy” by Schneider & Arny. Either the 2nd or 3rd edition will be okay, although the 3rd edition has some improved content. If you plan to resell the book at the end of the semester, keep in mind that the 3rd edition is the current one, so likely to fetch a better price. We use i>Clicker transmitter units in class to record participation. These units can be purchased at the textbook annex. You can use these units in more than one course, and you can even share a unit with a friend taking a different course (but not this same class)–beware though that if you share a unit with a friend, there are no exceptions made if you have some mix-up getting your unit back from your friend. The Clicker units are not strictly necessary, but they can help you to improve your homework grades. We will begin using them in the third class.
