About me

A Muscovite by birth, I am proud of my native city’s rich and tumultuous history. However, most of my childhood was spent in the Netherlands, where I acquired Dutch – and, later on, stumbled upon linguistics.

In my early teens, I discovered phonology through the poetry of the Russian futurists (who, as it happens, were closely tied to Roman Jakobson). This eventually inspired me to study linguistics at Leiden University – which subsequently brought me to the New World and to UMass Amherst.

Apart from linguistics, I enjoy making musicĀ and immersing myself into architecture and theĀ fine arts.
